Does your massage therapist only work with powerlifters or strength athletes? No. While powerlifters and strength athletes are our specialty, we also work with athletes from all sports, active individuals of all fitness levels, and anyone in need of care. Our services are inclusive and available to everyone, regardless of their activity level or background.
What do I need to know before my massage therapy appointment? After booking your appointment, you’ll receive a confirmation email along with a link to our online Intake Form. Please fill this out before your appointment to give your RMT a better understanding of your treatment needs. If you have trouble attaching your extended health information, please email it to us separately at info@kilosrehab.com.
What should I bring to my massage therapy appointment? If you are paying with insurance, please bring your insurance or benefits card in case additional information is needed.
What should I wear for my massage therapy appointment? Ultimately, your comfort is our priority. If you prefer wearing shorts and a sports bra during your treatment, that’s perfectly fine. Alternatively, if you feel more comfortable with a more traditional approach (e.g., wearing underwear underneath clinic linens), that's also completely acceptable. You will never be asked to disrobe beyond what you're comfortable with.
Do you direct bill? Yes, we do. For more details, please click here.
What if my provider is not listed under your direct billing? If your provider is not listed, please email us as soon as possible so we can apply to their submission service. Note that applying for a new provider may take several weeks, and some providers may not be compatible with our Jane App system. In the meantime, you may need to pay privately and submit the receipt to your provider while we wait for confirmation.
How do I cancel or reschedule my massage therapy appointment? Cancellations and rescheduling are easy through Jane App, where you can manage your appointment online as long as you’re more than 24 hours ahead of your scheduled time.
What is your cancellation policy? If you cancel, reschedule, or miss an appointment within 24 hours of the scheduled time, you will incur the full fee for the missed session. Missed appointments cannot be direct billed, as this would be considered insurance fraud, and will be charged to your card on file. If an emergency or unforeseen circumstance prevents you from attending, please contact us by email as soon as possible.
What should I do if the day/time I want is booked up? We maintain a waitlist for specific days and times. You can add yourself to the waitlist and be notified when a spot opens up.
I have a specific injury. Can your massage therapist treat it? Simply book your appointment and send a follow-up email to our RMT explaining your injury. If we can treat your condition, great! If we cannot safely provide treatment, we will help guide you to a healthcare professional who can.
How can you help me if I’m not in pain? At Kilos Strength + Rehab, we’re experts in movement. You don’t need to be in pain or have an injury to benefit from our services. Regular sessions with our expert RMT can help address muscle tension, improve movement patterns, and correct lifestyle factors before they turn into injuries, allowing you to live pain-free and continue doing what you love.
I feel sore or tender after my massage therapy appointment. Is this normal? It’s completely normal to feel soreness or tenderness in the treated areas. This should only last a few days, and as you continue with treatments, you should notice a quicker recovery time.
What is the breakdown of a typical massage therapy session? A standard 60-minute session includes 10-15 minutes for information gathering and assessment, followed by hands-on manual therapy for the majority of the session. Depending on your needs, you may also spend time on remedial exercises or homecare instructions, which could range from a few minutes to up to 10 minutes for something like a form check in a compound exercise.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to see an RMT? No, a referral is not required to see our RMTs. However, your extended health provider may require a doctor's note for direct billing approval.
Is there parking available? Yes, there are multiple paid parking spots in the area. You can find some free 2-hour parking spots nearby. For the best rates, try Alder between 7th and 8th, Spruce between 7th and 8th, or 8th between Alder and Spruce. You can also check Parkopedia for detailed parking information.
When should I arrive for my massage therapy appointment? Please arrive no more than 10 minutes early. Upon arrival, head to the 2nd floor and follow the signs. Our space is locked at all times and accessible by appointment only. Please ring the doorbell when you arrive, and someone will let you in. Our waiting area is spacious and comfortable, complete with water and coffee for your convenience.
Is your clinic a no-shoe clinic? Yes, we ask clients to voluntarily remove their shoes and place them on the shoe rack by the entrance, particularly during rainy or snowy weather, to maintain a clean and sanitary environment. For your comfort and hygiene, we recommend wearing socks for your appointment.
Can the professionals on your Partners page work with non-powerlifting clients? Absolutely! While our partners share a background in powerlifting, they work with a broad range of clients, from beginners to competitive athletes. Please contact them individually for more information.
What is the difference between sports event massage and regular massage? Sports massage is distinct from traditional massage—it's dynamic, targeted, and designed to support athletic performance and recovery. Techniques are typically faster in rhythm, light to moderate in depth, and focused on the specific muscle groups most engaged during sport.
What can I expect during a sports massage? You can expect a focused session tailored to your needs and timing. Pre-event massages typically last 10–15 minutes per athlete and use light to moderate pressure to prepare muscles and improve circulation. Post-event massages are longer, about 15–30 minutes per athlete, with moderate pressure and mobilization techniques to reduce soreness and aid recovery.
Is sport event massage covered by insurance? Sports event massages are generally considered special services and are not covered by insurance.
How far in advance should I book sports event massage coverage? We request that you book at least 4 weeks before your event to ensure adequate time for planning.
What type of equipment do you bring for on-site sports massage? We provide a massage table, tools, oils, and all necessary supplies to deliver effective treatments.
Is there an additional cost for travel or setup? Travel and setup time are excluded from the minimum hourly booking but are included in the overall rate within the Lower Mainland. For locations outside this area, additional fees may apply upon request.
How large of a group can you accommodate for sports event massage? We can support groups of various sizes, from small teams to large squads. We can provide multiple therapists if necessary.
Can the massage be customized for different sports or athlete needs? Absolutely. We tailor techniques and focus areas based on the sport, athlete’s condition, and timing (pre- or post-event).
What are the rates and minimum booking requirements for sports event massage coverage? The rate is $250 + GST per hour, with a minimum booking of 4 hours (excluding setup and travel time). This ensures enough time to provide quality service to all athletes and cover travel and equipment needs.
