MICHAEL UY

Co-Founder & Registered Massage Therapist

Michael is a Sport Candidate Member with the Canadian Sport Massage Therapy Association who graduated Dean's List from the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy (VCMT). He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Northern British Columbia.

With an extensive background in both traditional sports and resistance training, Michael has had more than his fair share of injuries. Being told to simply stop playing or stop lifting was advice he heard all too often, but it was rarely helpful or realistic, and it never addressed the root causes of his problems. It is from this personal experience that he draws his treatment style. Michael uses passive modalities such as deep tissue massage, trigger point release, joint mobilizations, dynamic release, and myofascial release to achieve therapeutic outcomes. Simultaneously, he actively encourages and educates clients on movement, tailoring exercises to whatever level their body can handle. Through a combination of hands-on manual therapy and graded exposure to exercise, Michael helps his clients get back on track for long-term success.

In his spare time, Michael is dedicated to competitive powerlifting and is a proud 2x Provincial Champion in British Columbia. He continues to push his limits during training to demonstrate to himself and his clients that it is the combination of smart strength training and guided rehab that keeps him performing at his best.
